Imagine that the entire population of Great Britain and Northern Ireland had to leave the UK immediately without any warning and find a new home.
Just consider that you had to leave your beautiful home
and leave most of your possessions behind
and that you have had to walk for miles and miles
and then survive within a campsite without clean water
or proper toilets
and food is scarce
and that your life expectancy is severely reduced
It is not a safe place.
It is a hell on earth.
The world instead of taking you in,
in an understanding way
just treats you like vermin
that deserves its lot
and tries to build walls
to stop you entering their countries
and if you do manage to enter a country
you are treated as a threat.
Forget that you were once a judge
or a priest, or a doctor,
or a minister,
or a teacher,
or any other person worthy of respect,
that means nothing.
I think we can do better than this.
